2020 – 2021 was painful.
In a flash, the world had to face the coronavirus pandemic, face masks, the development of COVID-19 vaccines, Black Lives Matter protests, the struggle between in-class and virtual learning, the 2020 elections, pending stimulus checks, the shrinking of small businesses, and a rise in unemployment.
Despite all the adversities of 2020, Georgia State University managed to push forward and enroll 54,000 students across its six campuses. These challenges sparked an idea within the CASA – to create a blog where critical and creative thinkers can share occurrences in their lives and the world at large. Eager to tap into the stories and views of Georgia State University’s growing and diverse community, CASA Café was formed.
Long nights and even longer days went into constructing CASA Café. Questions floated. Which direction should the Café go in? What resources are within reach? Are diverse topics presented in meaningful ways? Could the platform strive and make an impact? Are content creators ready to deliver?
Welcome to 2022.
At CASA Café, we encourage you to read the stories presented by our content creators. Our aim – to build an inclusive space that merges culture, the classroom, and mixed professional industries in relatable ways.
